James Beard Award winning chef, restaurateur, author and television personality, Sam Choy leads Hawai‘i’s first student dining facility highlighting Pacific rim cuisine.
Chef Choy has been creating cuisine with fresh, local island ingredients since he was a boy learning to cook alongside his parents while growing up in Laie on ‘Oahu’s North Shore. Sourcing and cooking with the traditional foods of Hawai‘i, Chef Choy’s native intelligence and culinary creativity have led him to co-create and popularize Pacific rim Cuisine around the globe.
In addition to his newest venture, Pier Nine by Sam Choy, he hosts a weekly cooking show, Sam Choy’s Kitchen, oversees operations at his 3 other restaurants, and has authored eleven top-selling cookbooks. When he’s not in the kitchen, you can find him volunteering with local charities and spreading aloha worldwide.
